Chrysler has announced that there will no longer be overlap in their line of minivans, i.e. you will no longer be able to purchase a Dodge Grand Caravan with the same features as a Chrysler Town and Country. Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Dealers will be seeing the Grand Caravan covering the base model (Dodge Grand Caravan Express) on up to where the Town and Country takes over in the higher levels of trim, starting with the Chrysler Town and Country Touring.

The Dodge Grand Caravan Express now features “Super Stow-N-Go,” which means that the seats now fold away with the touch of a button. It also comes standard with steering wheel audio controls, stability control, power heated mirrors, tri-zone climate control, seat-mounted side airbags, six speaker stereo, and tinted glass. Sold in that form, it is competitive with the current top of the line Dodge.

The Dodge Caravan Mainstreet adds body-color mirrors, power second row windows, one-touch power down front windows, and aluminum wheels. Stepping up to the Crew adds 17-inch aluminum wheels, backup camera, trip computer, satellite radio, roofrack, fog lamps, adjustable pedals, power doors, leather-wrapped wheel and shifter, eight-way power driver’s seat, and Super Console. The Dodge “Man Van” will be the Dodge Caravan R/T, adding an all-black interior, body-color grille, unique wheels, red stitched seats, performance suspension, and roof-rack delete. Perfect for convincing Dads into finally buying that minvan.

Chrysler starts after Dodge ends; the base Touring model will come with all the equipment of the Crew, as well as a power liftgate, automatic headlamps, and SafetyTec. The latter includes blind spot monitor, rear cross path detection, rain sensing wipers, parking assist, and “smart beam” headlights. Above even this exalted Chrysler is the Touring L, with leather seats, heated in the first row; second and third row window shades; remote start; and eight-way power passenger seat. Dual DVD is optional at this level.

Finally, the Chrysler Town & Country Limited is set to sell far a far higher premium than the other models; in return, buyers will get a distinctive minivan with chrome-plated wheels, nine-speaker amplified audio, heated steering wheel, second row heated seats, upgraded leather, UConnect, seat/mirror/radio memory, HID headlamps, keyless driving, navigation system, and dual-DVD video.

The difference between the base Dodge Grand Caravan Express and the top of the line Chrysler Town & Country Limited may be as high as $14,000. For pricing information, contact your Local Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Dealer.
