F. Scotty obviously never sat behind the wheel of a Dodge Charger.

The new-look iconic muscle car of the 1960s and ‘70s is celebrating a resurgence while garnering a lot of attention and some good press these days, most notably at the recent Los Angeles Auto Show.

The 2012 Dodge Charger was honored by Automobile Magazine as one of its 2012 “All Stars.”

November 23, 2011 , Auburn Hills, Mich. – Just two-and-a-half weeks after Mopar® introduced the new 800 horsepower V-10 Competition Race Engine for drag racing at the 2011 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas, the off-road racing derivative of the crate engine made its debut in the 44th Tecate SCORE Baja 1000, Nov. 18–19, powering Kent Kroeker and Alan Roach to the Class 8 win in the famed event.

Kroeker, owner of Kroeker Off-Road Engineering (KORE), shared the driving duties of the Ram 1500 with the Mopar V-10 Competition Off-Road Race Engine under the hood, with Roach, who hails from Escondido, Calif. The pair covered the distance of nearly 700 miles through the rugged desert of Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula in just over 20 hours to record the Class 8 victory. Kroeker began the race and drove through the San Felipe loop, with Roach then taking the wheel for the remainder of the distance.

The 2011 Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 drew a total of 278 starters from 34 states and 16 different countries, in more than 30 different classes. The Class 8 division that Kroeker and Roach competed in with the Mopar V-10 Competition Off-Road Race Engine is comprised of full-size, two-wheel drive trucks.

We were the only vehicle in the Baja 1000 using Mopar power. Mopar engineers sculpted its characteristics around my description of what is needed to win in long-distance desert racing.”

Kroeker and his team put the Ram 1500 for Baja together in six weeks, as both the truck and the Mopar V-10 Competition Off-Road Race Engine made their competitive debut at what is considered the most grueling event in off-road racing.

Kroeker and KORE were instrumental in the development and creation of the Mopar Ram Runner, which was introduced at the 2010 Moab Jeep® Safari. The Mopar Ram Runner served as the Official Pace Truck of the Traxxas TORC (The Off-Road Championship) Series this season, where Mopar-powered Ram Truck drivers dominated, winning 27 total races and claiming the championship in all three PRO classes. With the debut of the Mopar V-10 Competition Off-Road Race Engine, the evolution of the Mopar off-road racing program continues.

The 800 horsepower Mopar V-10 Competition Off-Road Race Engine is hand assembled to exacting standards by race engine builders and features an aluminum block with aluminum cylinder heads. The Mopar V-10 Competition Engine is designed for the rigors of off-road racing and pulls 695 lb. ft. of torque with an operating range of up to 7,000 rpm. The race-calibrated engine includes a forged steel crankshaft with forged steel connecting rods and forged aluminum pistons with a compression ratio of 12.5:1. All rotating components have been balanced for maximum performance.

More than 70 Years of Mopar

When Chrysler bought Dodge in 1928, the need for a dedicated parts manufacturer, supplier and distribution system to support the growing enterprise led to the formation of the Chrysler Motor Parts Corporation (CMPC) in 1929.

Edgar A. Guest’s 1917 “See It Through” poem is featured in a new Chrysler 300 television spot and print ads launching Thanksgiving week. The 60-second television spot weaves the luxury, craftsmanship and best-in-class capabilities of the 2012 Chrysler 300 with the hard-working spirit and toughness of the people of Detroit. As the “See It Through” spot proclaims: the new Chrysler 300 is “more than just our flagship” vehicle, it exemplifies the comeback of Detroit and Chrysler.

The latest spot in Chrysler’s “Imported from Detroit” campaign opens with Muddy Waters singing “Mannish Boy.” As the song continues in the background, a voiceover recites Edgar Guest’s “See It Through” poem as a Chrysler 300 drives through Detroit-area neighborhoods past the people and faces proudly calling Detroit home, including Detroit Lions defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh standing in front of his Chrysler 300. It ends with “The New Chrysler 300. More Than Just Our Flagship” and an “Imported from Detroit” title card.

“The ‘Imported from Detroit’ message that hard work pays off has resonated nationwide,” said Chehab. “Ever since the ‘Born of Fire’ spot debuted in the 2011 Super Bowl, people everywhere tell us they are proud of what it represents. The campaign captures the spirit of the country in addition to the comeback of the Chrysler brand and Chrysler Group.”

The “See It Through” spot makes its network television debut Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 24, during the nationally televised Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers NFL football game on FOX.

The spot makes its digital debut Monday, Nov. 21, embedded in a Chrysler ad on the USAToday.com homepage. Website visitors can watch the commercial and learn more about the Chrysler 300.

Additional elements of the new Chrysler 300 campaign include a Wednesday, Nov. 23, USA Today newspaper cover wrap featuring Suh and his Chrysler 300, and a Friday, Nov. 25, two-page USA Today print spread featuring the “See It Through” poem, the 2012 Chrysler 300, and images of the Detroit neighborhoods and people in the TV spot.

The campaign was created in partnership with Wieden+Kennedy of Portland, Ore.

About Edgar A. Guest (1881 – 1959)

Edgar Allen Guest was an English-born American poet popular in the early 20th century and became known as the “People’s Poet.” His family moved to the United States in 1891 and settled in Detroit, Mich. Guest started his career as a copy boy at the Detroit Free Press and became a reporter three years later. He first covered the labor beat, then the waterfront and police beats. The paper published his first poem in 1898. For the next 40 years, Guest’s optimistic poems were syndicated throughout America in nearly 300 newspapers and they have been collected in more than 20 books. He hosted a popular Detroit radio show from 1931 – 1942 and, in 1951, a NBC television series, Guest in Your Home. He was named Poet Laureate of Michigan and remains the only poet to have been awarded this title. Guest died in Detroit in 1959.

Set to Lopez’s song “Until It Beats No More,” from her new album, “Love?”(Island Def Jam), the commercial will be shown on national and cable networks on Thursday, November 17th.

The commercial, titled “Elegance,” is voiced-over by Lopez and highlights the style, elegance and originality of Fiat 500 by Gucci limited edition, as Lopez drives through the streets of New York City. In true Gucci style, the commercial beautifully captures the elegance of the New York City skyline, while highlighting the precise and uniquely innovative Gucci details featured in the car.

The new commercial not only highlights the engineering and performance of the 2012 Fiat 500 by Gucci but also truly captures the stylish functionality of the limited edition vehicle. From the foreshadowing flash of the Gucci insignia on the rear bumper, to the red/green/red Gucci web stripe across the power-retractable cloth top and the interlocking “GG” on the shift knob, the ad tells the story of the model’s elegance, originality and performance seamlessly.

“The collaboration between FIAT and Gucci bring together two of Italy’s most respected brands. Inspired by FIAT’s rich heritage and design and customized by Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini, the vehicle makes the perfect modern travel statement,” Francois said.

A 60-second and a 30-second version of ‘Elegance,’ can be viewed above or at the FIAT brand Facebook page and on the FIAT brand YouTube channel. The commercial was created in partnership with Doner of Detroit.

The seat bottom on the front passenger side lifts up revealing a spacious storage compartment, in addition to in storage located in the floor in the back seat, very similar to the hidden storage in the Ram Crew Cabs.

November 15, 2011 , Auburn Hills, Mich. – Chrysler Group LLC’s Ram Truck brand, Great Lakes Business Center and Southeast Michigan Ram dealers have expanded their partnership with the Detroit Red Wings, one of America’s most successful professional sports franchises.

The business center and local Chrysler, Jeep®, Dodge and Ram dealers are enhancing their Red Wings partnership this year with new elements inside and outside the Joe Louis Arena. Ram has been named the “Official Truck of the Red Wings” and to celebrate, local Ram dealers are selling a limited number of special Red Wings Edition Ram trucks.

The trucks are based off the newly introduced Ram 1500 Express 4X4 Crew Cab model and include Red Wings logoed front-seat headrests, optional Red Wings embroidered leather seats, “Detroit Red Wings Edition” graphics on the tailgate and rear bed sides, and other features. Colors available are red, white, and black.

As another new element of the expanded partnership, Red Wings forward Johan Franzen is featured in television spots and billboards, and goalie Jimmy Howard is featured in a Ram mural inside the Wings’ home, Joe Louis Arena.

In the TV spot, “Ram vs. Mule,” the power and toughness of Franzen – nicknamed “Mule” – is compared to that of the Ram truck as both face off on center ice.

In the mural, a determined Howard is pictured under the Guts Glory headline wearing a special Ram branded goalie mask. The mural was painted live at Joe Louis Arena Nov. 9 – 12 by renowned hockey artist David Arriggo of Toronto. The one-of-a-kind hand-painted mask will be auctioned for charity later this year.

A 30-second Ram TV spot titled “Ram vs. Mule” opens at center ice of Joe Louis Arena with a Ram 1500 parked to the left of the center line and Franzen standing to the right. After an opening title that says Ram vs. Mule, the camera cuts back and forth between Franzen and the Ram truck as the voiceover describes common qualities they share such as Ram great on snow/ Mule great on ice, handles hostile road conditions/handles hostile road games, menacing grille/menacing grille and even a bit about how they both have serious contracts. It’s all a fun play on their names that ends with a beauty shot of the Ram 1500 and a voiceover and title that names the Ram 1500 as “The Official Truck of Hockeytown.”

Radio – 60-second spots
“Ode to Hockeytown” captures the sights and sounds inside Joe Louis Arena and why Ram is proud to be a part of Hockeytown. “Road Warrior” refers to the tenacity of Ram trucks and the Detroit Red Wings stating “whether you’re miles away from civilization or inches away from the glass, Ram trucks and the Red Wings make the road their home.” The ads are narrated by Sam Elliott, the voice of Ram.

Additional expanded in-arena campaign elements include a second mural – with the headline “Good Things Come in Eights” promoting the 390 horsepower HEMI® V8 Red Wings Edition Ram and referencing the days when the Red Wings won the Stanley Cup championship in eight games – concourse curtains of the Ram truck grille, in-game virtual signage and in-ice Ram logos, exclusive Ram sponsorship of the popular “Score-O” intermission promotion and the “Stars of the Game” feature, and fan-engagement promotions throughout the season. There will also be a 30-second big screen video encouraging fan participation and involvement through intermission chants around “HEMI. POWERED. HOCKEY.”

The television, billboard and newspaper ads were created in partnership with Doner, Detroit. The radio spots, murals, program advertising, arena video and other in-arena elements were created in partnership with The Richards Group in Dallas.

Based on the Wrangler Sahara model, the Arctic’s winter theme is immediately recognizable. Available colors are Winter Chill, Bright Silver and Bright White. Exterior features include a body-color hardtop and fender flares, “Arctic” badges on the front fenders, a “Yeti Footprint” decal over part of the driver’s side fender and hood, black hood decal and Mopar® black fuel filler door and taillamp guards.

Jeep Wrangler Arctic also offers an aggressive Wrangler Rubicon tire and wheel package, with unique semi-gloss black 17-inch wheels shod with 32-inch tires.

Inside, Wrangler Arctic’s seats are black Tectonic fabric with Polar White accents and orange accent stitching. Front seats are heated and feature an “Arctic” logo in the seat back. Accent stitching can also be found on the steering wheel, arm rest and console lid. Door trim and nets are accented in orange, and all grab handles and dashboard vent rings are finished in Polar White trim.

Available on Liberty Sport 4×4 models, the Arctic shares many of the same features as the Wrangler Arctic. Available exterior colors are Winter Chill, Bright Silver, Bright White and Mineral Gray. “Arctic” badges on the front fenders are shared, though the “Arctic” decal on the hood is unique to Liberty. Semi-gloss black 16-inch aluminum wheels with center caps painted semi-gloss black are wrapped in P235/70R16 OWL all-terrain tires. Rounding out the exterior highlights are deep tint glass and tow hooks, blacked-out headlamps and standard fog lamps.

The interior features a similar black and Arctic Orange color scheme found in Wrangler. Seats are covered in black vinyl with a Gortex embossment, and the inserts are Tectonic fabric with Polar White accents. Arctic Orange accent stitching can be found on the seat backs, cushions and headrests. Power front seats are heated and feature an “Arctic” logo in the seat back. Finishing touches include gray-faced gauges, express up/down one-touch windows, Media Center 430 touch-screen with a nine-speaker Infiniti sound system and Mopar slush mats with white “Jeep” lettering.

Jeep® Wrangler – the most capable and recognized vehicle in the world – becomes even more capable both on- and off-road for 2012, courtesy of an all-new, more fuel efficient and more powerful 3.6-liter V-6 engine, and a new five-speed automatic transmission – both of which it shares with the award-winning Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Chrysler Group’s 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine – winner of the prestigious Ward’s 10 Best Engines award – delivers 285 horsepower (209 kW) and 260 (353 N•m) lb.-ft. of torque, while delivering up to 21 miles per gallon highway in the 2012 Jeep Wrangler. The improvement, when compared to the previous 3.8-liter V-6 engine, is 40 percent in horsepower and 10 percent in torque.

Additionally, for refined shifting and greater performance, the Jeep Wrangler migrates from a four-speed to a new five-speed automatic transmission. The 2012 Jeep Wrangler also features the company’s first application of a manual transmission to the Pentastar V-6.

Jeep continues to refine the successful Wrangler formula by combining legendary, benchmark capability with an interior that delivers rich styling with significantly upgraded touch surfaces, occupant comfort and versatility, and a premium appearance courtesy of a body-color hardtop for the popular Sahara and Rubicon models.

2012 Jeep Wrangler interior highlights include a recently redesigned instrument panel and storage areas with improved ergonomics and upgraded materials. A lockable console and upgraded door armrest areas boast comfortable touch points, while a redesigned center stack is easier to reach and operate. Heated, power mirrors are available, and drivers and passengers enjoy enhanced visibility courtesy of large rear windows.

Jeep Liberty remains true to Jeep’s legendary 4×4 heritage by offering two Jeep Trail Rated® four-wheel-drive systems – Command-Trac II® and Selec-Trac II®. Command-Trac II® is a part-time four-wheel-drive system, which is the standard 4WD configuration. Command-Trac II operates in 2WD, 4WD Lock, 4 WD Low and Neutral.

The optional Selec-Trac II® is a full-time, active on-demand four-wheel-drive system. Select-Trac II operates in 2WD, 4WD Auto, 4WD Low and Neutral. The Liberty features independent front suspension with rack-and-pinion steering and a five-link rear suspension.

Based on the 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392, the Challenger SRT8 Yellow Jacket features a Stinger Yellow body color and black grille surround to match the standard black body-side stripes that highlight the newly developed Yellow Jacket logo on the rear fender. New 20 x 9-inch, five-spoke cast-aluminum wheels with black painted pockets provide a unique performance look.

Inside, the standard leather seats feature an exclusive Stinger Yellow accent band with embroidered Yellow Jacket logo and silver accent stitching. The driver’s seat also features a full adjustable lumbar position with seatback tilt, memory and an easy-to-reach release handle, while the front-passenger seat adds tilt and slide with memory, which makes it even easier for passengers to get in and out of the back seat.

The original Dodge “Yellow Jacket” show car, which evolved from the 1970 Challenger, was shown at various auto show exhibits beginning in late 1969. Painted pearlescent Honey Gold, the roadster was powered by the 426-cubic inch HEMI V-8 and carried a number of the famous Dodge “Scat Pack” performance features, such as a unique front spoiler, wider tires, heavy-duty suspension and brakes, and manual transmission, along with the Rallye instrument cluster and shaker hood.

A limited number of 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 Yellow Jacket models will be built for the U.S. market. All Dodge Challenger models are built at the Brampton Assembly Plant in Brampton, Ontario, Canada.

The Challenger SRT8 392 Yellow Jacket will be available for ordering in December at Dodge dealerships nationwide and will be arriving in U.S. dealer showrooms in the first quarter of 2012.

About the 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8® 392

For 2012, the Dodge Challenger SRT8® 392 adds even more high-tech performance features to solidify its place as the brand’s ultimate modern American rear-wheel-drive muscle coupe. With 470 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque from the proven 392 cubic-inch HEMI® V-8, the balanced performance approach of the Challenger SRT8 392 provides outstanding straight-line acceleration, world-class ride and handling, high-performance braking and the most up-to-date technologies that deliver more driver excitement and control.

The standard Tremec TR-6060 six-speed manual transmission and a dual-disc high-performance clutch are proven performers that were first offered on the 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10®. Both automatic and manual models feature a standard limited-slip differential to maximize performance.

The optional five-speed automatic transmission features new, standard steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters that join the center console mounted Auto Stick, allowing for a choice of spirited shifting on both the road and the race track. Both methods give the driver the ability to manually select specific gears on the transmission.

Standard Fuel Saver Technology (four-cylinder mode) in automatic transmission equipped models allows the engine to operate economically on four cylinders or use the power of all eight cylinders when needed. The EPA fuel economy miles per gallon (mpg) (City/Hwy) ratings for the 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 are 14/23 for both manual and automatic transmission models.

The adaptive damping suspension (ADS) system is new for 2012 and tuned specifically for the Dodge Challenger SRT8 392. The ADS system on the Challenger SRT8 392 features the fastest turn-in and most nimble handling characteristics of any SRT product.

In the “Sport” setting, the system provides the highest damping rates allowing the driver to push the handling envelope like never before. In “Auto” mode, a wide range of on-road and driver inputs – such as vehicle speed, steering angle, steering speed, brake torque, throttle position and lateral/vertical accelerations – automatically tune the suspension for specific conditions.

Drivers can easily choose between settings to quickly change the shock damping and harshness characteristics from “Auto” for everyday commuting to “Sport” for more spirited driving situations.

The handling result is .90g capability on the skid pad – the most of any production Challenger and on par with some of the world’s best-handling performance coupes.

The standard SRT performance brake package produces world-class stopping power of 60 to 0 mph in just 117 feet from 14.2 inch (front) and 13.8 inch (rear) vented/slotted rotors with four-piston Brembo fixed calipers painted red. The three-mode electronic stability control system with knockback mitigation also includes four-wheel ABS, all-speed traction control, electronic brake-force distribution, Brake Assist and Hill-start Assist (HSA).

The 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 accelerates from 0-60 mph in the high 4-second range; runs the quarter mile in mid-12-second range with the automatic transmission (high 12-second range with the manual); goes from 0-100-0 mph in the low 15s, reaches a top speed of 182 mph with the manual transmission (175 mph with the automatic).

The large front splitter and integrated front fender spats and body-color rear decklid spoiler provide stable high-speed aerodynamic balance while the front fascia chin spoiler also improves aerodynamic drag and is accented in black for a more aggressive look.

Unique “392 HEMI” badges flank both fenders touting the historically significant V-8 engine that remains true to its high-performance roots and powers the highest rated Challenger in terms of horsepower and torque ratings. From the rear, the 4-inch rectangular exhaust tips deliver the 392’s performance exhaust note while adding the styling cue of a serious muscle car.

The race inspired and high-performance interior begins with the new, exclusive SRT® heated steering wheel that features mounted paddle shifters for hands on the wheel shifting both on road and at the race track. All audio and Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) controls are accessible from the horizontal spokes on the steering wheel.

The trapezoidal instrument panel features a four-bomb gauge cluster with chromed accent rings and unique SRT graphics. Inside the cluster, the SRT-exclusive Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) with performance pages gives the driver trip information, multimedia information from the Media Center radio, along with instant feedback on 0-60 mph acceleration, 60-0 mph braking, G-forces, one-eighth mile and quarter-mile times.

The 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 features more than 35 advanced safety and security features, including standard Keyless Enter-N-Go and three-mode electronic stability control (ESC) with segment-exclusive Ready Alert Braking and Rain Brake Support safety features to improve overall vehicle handling and performance.

The innovative Uconnect® Media Center 430, 430N and 730N radios integrate a 6.5-inch touchscreen display with a hard drive where more than 150 hours of music and photos can be stored.
