The rivalry continues, but this year the crown goes to Jeep. According to an article posted on AutoNews.com, Jeep has narrowly outsold GMC for the first time in half a decade. There has always been a tendency to compare Jeep to GMC, as both brands offer only SUV’s or trucks.
Jeep finished 2011 with a December that had a sales increase of 41% over last years sales, with 43,577 units sold. In 2011, Jeep sold a total of 419,349 units, compared to GMC’s year end total of 397,973. GMC closed out the year with 41,960 sales in December.
According to AutoNews.com, “Both brands were hot last year. GMC sales jumped 19 percent with double-digit growth on every model. But Jeep passed it by posting at least a 30 percent increase on every model and tripling volume on the refreshed Compass. Overall, Jeep sales soared 44 percent.”
